The Essential Lubrication Points to Double the Life of Your Garage Door
Written by David K. (Senior Technician) · 5 min read

Regular lubrication is the single most effective way to extend the lifespan of your garage door. Without proper lubrication, high-friction metal parts will wear down, leading to screeching, track damage, and opener strain.
The 4 Key Lubrication Points
Grab a can of high-quality dry silicone spray and focus on these parts:
- Torsion Springs: Spray along the entire coiled length of the springs. The coils scrape together during operation; lubrication prevents friction wear and rust.
- Panel Hinges: Lubricate the pivot points on all metal hinges on the inside of the door.
- Rollers: Focus on the ball bearings inside the roller wheels (avoid spraying nylon tires).
- Bearing Plates: Spray the bearings inside the end plates at both ends of the torsion shaft.
